For today's blog, I'll be discussing a very easy technique to increase your Airsoft gas blowback pistol's cycle rate (the time it takes for the slide to "blow back" and then return to its original state at rest). In this case, I'll be featuring the uber-sexy WE 45-Tactical Combat Warrior GBBP that is currently in stock at PyramydAir.com.

There's really not much to this little mod, which is part of its beauty, actually. It's a great trick to use on any of your Airsoft gas blowback pistols that utilize the heavier, metal slides. However, GBBPs that use plastic slides can also use this as well. Basically, slipping the spacers around the recoil spring guide rod, like you see below, shortens the distance that the slide is able to travel during its blowback cycle. You will lose the ability to use the slide catch when the mag is empty, but I personally didn't care about that. My superb skillz have not been adversely affected by the loss of that feature. I just went to Lowe's and picked up some thing plastic washers with an inner diameter that was just a bit larger than the outer diameter of the guide rod.

I used a bunch of the little washers instead of one big piece so that I could easily make adjustments by adding or subtracting washers as necessary in the event I needed to increase or decrease the distance that the slide traveled back. You don't want to add so many washers that the slide doesn't travel far enough back to cock the hammer though. I, of course, had to learn this through trial and error. I noticed my gun would fire one shot and then stop. No response on the second trigger pull. If this happens to you, you might have to reduce the spacers on your guide rod.

So there's your quick tip of the day for short-stroking your Airsoft Gas Blowback Pistol. It's easy and quick to do, and it is completely reversible. No permanent modification or destruction of your beloved gun is necessary.

Airsoft.
