It really hasn't been that long since WE dropped the M14 GBB bomb on the Airsoft world, and now they've gone ahead and developed another mighty fine specimen that they are referring to as the WE G39C Gas Blowback Rifle. For some obvious trademark reasons, it would be legally foolish to mention what this rifle replicates by name, but we all know what this is and who will probably be getting some royalties on the back end of this thing.

James Chan, the top dawg at WE is saying that this rifle has more recoil than the M14 GBB, which I can tell you from personal experience, kicks like a mule.  He also makes the claim that the WE G39C utilizes their best hop-up design to date.  So it certainly has my interest peaked a tad, just to see how they improved upon their M14 Open Bolt design.  It's definitely good looking, PLUS, early reports are indicating that the G39C will be retailing for a scant $230 or so (unconfirmed, so don't quote me).  But still, anywhere in that neighborhood is going to be very reasonable for what you're getting.

My question is this: Would any of you out there buy this gun?  Who of you 7 Pyramyd Airsoft Blog readers likes this design?  I'm not here to judge.  I'm just genuinely curious.  Also, Mom, I know you're reading this and that you account for 2 of those 7 readers, so no need to reply.  Thanks for the support though.

Seriously though.  Post up some feedback in the comments section.  Would you buy this gun for $230?  Is this gun your favorite style of assault rifle?  If not, what is?

Airsoft is > or = to The Word.

I think the gun looks great and a 230$ price tag interests me but I switched from paintball to airsoft to get away from problems with gas, and so I probably wouldn't buy a full gbb rifle.

I assume you were using C02 for your paintball stuff? Propane/green gas isn't ideal either. This gun looks like it'd be great for CQB/MOUT games where engagements are closer and therefore you wouldn't need a super accurate, long-range gun. What were some of the gas issues you had when you were playing paintball?

Leaks were probably the most infuriating problem. I've also had this problem on the magazines of some cheap gbb airsoft pistols. A mysterious invisible o-ring or maybe the safety valve gives and if I can fix it its at least an hour gone. And then cold weather comes up here in NY and gas isn't very useful anymore.

Ah yes, cold weather is a GBB killer. I've actually had air leakage issues on some of my higher-end GBB magazines as well. I generally keep a large inventory of Teflon tape on had and usually do some preventative maintenance as soon as I get new mags now and it generally does the trick. Just like everything else in life, it's a give and take with the GBB guns and AEGs. On the one hand, in my experience, I rarely, if ever, have had an actual part break on literally any of the many GBB guns that I have, but just about everyone of them has been plagued by air leaks at one point in time or another. Meanwhile, with the AEGs that I've owned, I generally don't have trouble with air leaks, but I'm constantly breaking parts. So it's a toss up for me. I've just accepted that stuff will break a long time ago and have learned to adapt as much as possible. If you're ever having trouble with your GBB/AEG guns in the future and could use an extra set of ideas for solving the problem(s), just post up here on the blog and let me know. We can try to work it out together, or perhaps I could post a tutorial on how to fix whatever it is that might be causing your troubles. Just let me know.

That sounds good. I'd love some help fixing my currently leaking pistol mag. It acts as if I were continuously depressing the gas release button. I've checked all the o-rings I could get to to no avail. If you'd like to stop bombarding your blog with our thread my email is pellej4@rpi.edu

Nice gun as with most of the Gas rifles, but limited in its application. Only highly skilled players that LOVE an absolute MilSim experience should purchase these. A JG user with a 300 round HiCap will torch that Milsim experience for you.

I would have to agree with you there, Big Poppa. This is probably a gun best suited for the advanced player. Trigger discipline (taking only the sure shot) and precision shooting skills will be needed for these GBBRs with their low mag capacities.
