Some of you may have noticed that I skipped a few steps. You know, the part where I show you how to disassemble the WE Hi-Capa GBB Pistol up to this point...

Well, as it turns out, if you are to the point where you care about the distance you have to pull the trigger before it releases the hammer and causes the gun to cycle, then you already know how to take down your Hi-Capa. You probably also know that this modification works for not only WE Hi-Capa Pistols (7.1, 5.1, 4.3, 3.8), but also the Tokyo Marui & Socom Gear versions as well.

So yea, one of the issues with WE pistols, if you want to get real super picky, is that there is a lot of excess distance between the point the trigger sits at rest and the point it must reach in order to start cycling the pistol.  As you can see below, in the space on the right, in between the metallic silver trigger band and the green Hi-Capa grip, that is a general approximation of the amount unnecessary distance traveled by the trigger on a stock WE Hi-Capa 5.1.  I should note that there is much less of this excess on Tokyo Marui pistols, but that is....of course...why Tokyo Marui pistols own it 9 out of 7 days of the week.

Find out how to shorten your Hi-Capa GBB pistol's trigger pull after the jump...

Very simple solution: Install some spacers.

Find some scrap material lying around your Airsoft workbench area.  I actually keep a small drawer full or miscellaneous scraps for this very type of occasion.  In this case, I used an old piece of the rubber material used on a stock Classic Army AEG cylinder head.  I did try to do a rough measurement of the distance I point out above to know a basic ballpark dimension for these spacers using Mitutoyo Digital Calipers.  I failed to write down the measurement, although I always take it in millimeters unless the situation calls for SAE.  Anyway, below you can see not only what the spacers looked like after I cut them, but also get a size reference as well as what I used to cut the spacers down with.

You may have to fine tune your spacer size a bit in the event you don't cut them down small enough and you thereby prevent the hammer mechanism from cocking back during a cycle.

Below, you can see the spacers installed, with just a tiny dab of super glue on each piece.  I suppose you could attach the spacers to either the actual trigger unit as I have it below, or you could attach them from the other side to the grip.

Boom.  Rocket surgery complete.  Actually, I lied.  If you're going to go through this much trouble, you may as well go the whole nine yards.  As a good friend of mine likes to say, "If you're going to be a bear, be a Grizzly."  And yes, he and I both know that Polar Bears are actually the most ferocious of the bear species, but I think the public perception primarily associates the Grizzly with being the biggest & most bad ass of all bears.  But I digress. There's a bit more that one can do if one so desires to really tweak their gun and begin approaching the proverbial "hair trigger" status.  However, I don't want give it all up on the first trigger date, so you'll just have to come back again if you want the rest.  N.H.
