How to Repair a Leaking Airsoft Green Gas Magazine - TM Mk23 SOCOM Gas Magazine

Tokyo Marui Mk23 SOCOM Green Gas Magazine Leaks

In this instance, I used a Tokyo Marui Mk23 SOCOM Gas Magazine, but the concept and principles are the same for other magazines like the WE Hi-Capa Mags, M9 Beretta Mags, Sig Sauer P226 Mags, etc.  The process is slightly different to remove the base plate, but not to treat the seal with PTFE (Teflon).

Without further ado...

See those two retention pins? Punch 'em out.

Wrap the base three or four times with PTFE Tape (Teflon).

Once this is done, you should, in theory, be ready to re-install the magazine base plate back in the body, pop the pins back in and be back in business. However, if you're like me, karma hates you and when you put gas in the mag for the first couple tries, air CONTINUES to escape out of the bottom. This is when I recommend getting PTFE/Teflon/Thread-Seal PASTE involved. Same key ingredient as Teflon tape, just in paste format. Some people recommend this method the first time, but for me, it tends to get quite a bit messier and is harder to deal with because I'm a terrible craftsman. But in this case, even I had to resort to the paste, even after thoroughly wrapping.

Another helpful tip is to use a rubber mallet and tap the mag plate a few times with a gentle firmness, if that makes any sense. Basically, don't wail on it. And don't use a steel hammer head either. Rubber mallet.
