Last Saturday was like a Trifecta of Airsoft game days.

Number one, I got to play up at my old hometown field, Hill559, in Fresno, CA with my brother, Todd, and other assorted best friends & teammates.  Number two, I had my new Echo1 M240 Bravo with me and I absolutely destroyed the OPFOR with it.  And finally, Numero Tres, there were several photographers out there that day to document my incredible Airsoft machine gun killing spree.

Like a true professional, I accidentally engaged the safety when I switched from right to left hand, with a Magpul Dynamics-style weapon transition.  On top of that, the index finger of my glove got stuck on the trigger guard somehow and cost me some time in getting it loose. I'm not sure Costa & Haley had a 240 Bravo in mind when they were designing their weapons manipulation techniques though.  If I had made the transition to my left side a bit more coolly and calmly, it would not have been a problem, but I saw a bad guy and got a little too moist.  I'm the first to admit, I need more training on maintaining a stable state of mind.  I also haven't gotten to know all the little nuances of the gun, since it was my maiden voyage with it.  I should be able to work out these little things as I spend more time with the gun.  Anyway, just below, is one of my unfortunate victims on the run.

Photo credit: Bakholdin Photography My 240's now had the taste of blood and it's all she can think about.

There were a couple things I had some trouble with and I do feel like I need to mention them.  Number one, I'm not crazy about the heat guard on the top half of the outer barrel and the fact that it just pops right off, without having to remove a bolt or latch.  I had a little bit of trouble with it because there were several occasions where I was in need of a place to grip the gun to move it in some fashion.  I kept wanting to pick the gun up by gripping that top plate, but it would just pull right off.  It wasn't a huge issue or anything, just kind of a annoying to have to deal with once or twice.

The second issue I had was gripping the gun in such a way that was comfortable, but also one that allowed me to effectively operate the CRAP out of this gun. When I was holding the gun left-handed, like I am in the photo above, or when I switched to normal and held it right-handed, I had trouble keeping the bipod locked into its tucked-away postion underneath the front end of the gun.  This one, I have good reason to believe, was actually more user error than the fault of the manufacturer because there IS a locking latch that was designed to keep the bipod locked in place and I DID get it to lock securely for the first half of the game, but at one point in time, I squeezed the it in a moment of haste, and it came loose (T.W.S.S.).  Still haven't had a chance to look it over and see how to get that thing to cooperate.  Again, not a deal-breaker by any means.  I'm just bein' nit-picky.

And the third one is more of a personal problem than that of the M240 Bravo's: It's so freakin' heavy!  (and long, too).  Two of my own attributes that my wife is very familiar with.  Just sayin'.  I will warn you all now: just because you can pick the 240 up and hold it for several minutes while you're checking it out in a store or a friends house, doesn't mean that you'll be able to run the it in a game for an extended period of time without feeling a significant amount of fatigue.  Near the end of the game, my hands, arms and back were seriously fatigued.  Again, not the gun's fault.  I just need to man up and deal with it. If you're 4'10" WITH shoes on and have not been working out on a regular basis, you might reconsider the purchasing of this particular Airsoft weapon.  I realize that it might not look so large next to me in the photos, but you'll need to keep in mind that I'm 6'6" tall and I, therefore, am able to make larger items look like they're more of an average size when compared next to me.

I would also like to urge anyone lucky enough to own one of these things, that you need to exercise great care and caution when attaching your stock back onto the receiver after you've installed your battery. Pay attention to the wires and connectors that attached to the trigger switch. Like the great Johnny Cochran said during OJ's mock trial, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."  DO NOT FORCE IT. You will break stuff.

Overall, these are really minor issues.  I had no trouble with performance and fired the first shots ever through this gun on the field last Saturday.  One very positive attribute I will tell you about is that hop-up.  It's pretty easy to get to (just pop the feed tray up, like you would do if you were attached or detaching the box mag, and at the front of the gearbox, there it sits!  Just waiting to be adjusted.  Aside from easy access (which I'm ALWAYS a fan of *wink*), it actually held up extremely well and sent LITERALLY thousands of my BBs down-range in a very accurate manner.  But let's get back to more action, shall we?  I'll save more of the technical details for another day.

While others fall all around me, the Echo1 M240 Bravo & I remain calm in the face of danger, patiently stalking our prey with calculated precision.  We lick our chops, hungrily anticipating our next meal...

Seriously, Echo1. You guys have really outdone yourselves on this one.

To give you readers an idea of how much fun I had, in case you somehow haven't gotten the hint by now, I will be honest with you: I wasn't able to play for very long. In fact, I was only able to play for about an hour before I had to leave to be a groomsman in one of my best friend's wedding.

However, within that solid hour of Airsoft and while using the Echo1 M240 Bravo, I had more fun than I've had attending games where I played all day.

That's an honest-to-God, no B.S. assessment. Nobody's paying me to say that.  I will admit that being back on my home turf with my teammates certainly played a big part in my overall awesome experience, but even if I was out by myself, lone-wolfing it, I still would have blown my own mind at how much fun I had because of the terror-inducing performance of Echo1's newest Airsoft machine gun.

I went through at least 6,000 rounds of Air Venturi .20g BBs.

SIX THOUSAND BBs, many of which found their intended target, sometimes on more than one occasion. I know it was around six because the box mag is a 4000-rounder, and I emptied it once, fully, about 40 minutes into the game. Since I KNEW I was probably going to do that because I love to pull the trigger, I brought a bag of BBs with me, stored in a pouch on my 5.11 battle belt rig that I'm wearing in the photos, to refuel the beast during the game (which I did).  When I ended the game, I checked my box mag again and saw that I had about half the box mag left. Half of 4000 is 2000. Did you know that? So one full box mag at 4000 BBs plus a half of a box mag at around 2000 BBs makes 6000 BBs. In an hour. Did I mention that I had a decently good time?  If you're going to run the Echo1 M240 Bravo or really, any other Airsoft SAW (squad automatic weapon), then I HIGHLY recommend grabbing a rice bag of Air Venturi BBs from www.PyramydAir.com.  You can get them in .20g or .25g weights in quantities of 125,000 and 100,000, respectively.

A very special thanks to Scotty Asai of Backyard Photography and Dave Bakholdin of Bakholdin Photography for capturing my essence so well in all the photos they each took of me winning hard.  Even with their fantastic photo imagery skills, the high res photos do the Echo1 M240 Bravo no justice.  You really need to see the 240 in person to believe.  It's downright awe-inspiring, bordering on magical.

So now my question to all of you is this: what kind of optic would be sexy and appropriate to put on Echo1 M240 Bravo? Holosight/Eotech-style? Aimpoint? ACOG? ELCAN? I'm open to suggestions, as long as they don't suck. Post 'em up if you got 'em!

Also, if you've got any questions on the 240 Bravo, feel free to send them my direction.

Until next time, stay out of gang violence.

Airsoft.

PolarStar Airsoft's mastermind, Ben Noji, apparently just can't sit still. As if the release of his new drop-in Fusion Engine for version two AEGs and complete PR-15 EPAR series HPA-powered rifles isn't enough, he's decided to add a slightly different version to the mix, catering to those of us who fancy the Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), like the Echo1 M249 Para Airsoft SAW, for example. With a rates of fire exceeding 40 rounds per second, it would seem nothing short of obvious that the new PolarStar Fusion Engines should be paired up with an Airsoft gun that is designed to hose down the OPFOR with a shower of 6mm rain drops. Ben's latest video is actually just a stress test on the system. The video is in no means an indication that anyone, including PolarStar or myself, suggests playing in a game using such a high joule-rating.

Keep in mind, that was 700 fps with TSD .28g BBs. At the same amount of joules with a .20g BB, we're talking about a system that can withstand 828.3 feet per second at 28 rounds per second. When dealing with high pressure air, I do enjoy knowing that the system I'm using is more than capable at NOT exploding under the pressure I'm operating at.  Since playing velocities of around 400 fps require much less pressure, I can rest easily knowing my gun won't explode (call me irrational, but I'm scared of air.  So what!?!)  And having spoken with Ben earlier this evening, I can tell you that he built this gen1 system using some spare parts he had lying around. The fittings he was using weren't the right ones for this particular system, so they were causing a restriction on the air flow. Once he gets the proper parts put on the gen2, the rate of fire, which is already better than most airsmiths can achieve as it is, can be expected to increase.

Here's another video that has been up a for a little while now, showing what the version 2 fusion engine can do at field-safe velocities.

I can hear the nay-sayers already: "this system is unsafe because it allows users to run their Airsoft rifles at highly unsafe velocities with an outrageously monstrous rate of fire." Well maybe.

However, so is picking your nose while running with scissors on icy sidewalks.

What PolarStar has done, however, is to install a release valve in their Fusion Engines so that if the system were to exceed a certain PSI level, the release-valve is deployed and keeps the gun from firing over and above a specific energy level. It not only protects us from our inherently harmful tendencies as humans, but also helps to protect the solenoid inside the engine as well for longevity purposes. The bottom line is that these new systems, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER AIRSOFT GUN ON THE MARKET, the PolarStar systems will need to be used with extreme caution and responsibility. Don't be the idiot who ruins it for all of us.

PolarStar has also released the long-awaited pricing info on their systems.

Fusion Engine Kit for (M4/M16) - MSRP $450 (this is the drop-in kit)
PR-15 Rifle (10.5") - MSRP $650

I'd like to know how many of you out there are interested in this new system or the reasoning behind why you are NOT interested.  It's cool if you're not down with it. I respect your opinion.   I'm just curious to know if there are others that are as excited as I am about this system or if me and Ben Noji are the only ones who give a hoot.  Sound off in the comments section below!

Also, stay tuned this week for a very sexy update featuring me, an Echo1 M240 Bravo and a damn good time playing Airsoft!

This photo was taken by sports photographer, Dave Bakholdin of Bakholdin Photography, who acted as my own personal, Russian** Airsoft Papparazzi for the day.  ONLY thanks to my comrade's superior action-shot skillz with his glorious Canon 7D and 70-200mm L Lens setup, was anyone able to capture the true essence of my utter domination of the OPFOR in my full-on 5.11 Tactical Series uniform & battle belt rig.  Oh yeah, then there's that Echo1 M240 Bravo that I'm mowing down the bad guys with.  That helped in the whole "looking good" thing too.

Stay tuned for the full AAR on the incredible game at Hill559 along with my first impressions of actually fielding a gun (WITHOUT A SLING, mind you) that weighs as much as a baby hippopotamus in the next 24 hours.

Man, I love this silly little game involving the use of toy guns like the 240 Bravo that look and shoot like a dream!

**In the coldest peak of the Central Valley's winter time, you won't find Dave throwing on an extra jacket to keep warm.  Nope.  He plays chess to raise his core body temp and fills his hydration bladder not with water, but Beluga Gold Line Vodka to fuel up his large Russian frame for a long day of playing and photographing Airsoft.

So, as you know, I stopped by the KWA Booth while soaking in as much of Shot Show 2011 as I possibly could in a very small window of time.  Just like the JAG Precision/Echo1 USA Booth, KWA had a metric ton of tantalizing new toy guns for which grown men like me would love to blow my emergency savings account** on.

**You know, for emergencies like car trouble, unexpected medical bills, and new Airsoft guns that you just can't wait to own.

I realize the KWA H&K USP Match is not a new item by any means, but I'm the one with editor's rights here, so I'm gonna post it up like a boss cuz it's one that I've always wanted.

Trades, trades, everywhere!!!  Michael Hon of KWA, who was very kind to me, even though he had no clue who the heck I was and why I was bombarding him with so many questions, made sure to point out USP Gas Blowback Pistol lineup featured legitimate H&K trademarks molded into the rubber grips of all their HK pistols.

Very nice touch, and as you can see from the photos above, they put some nice details on their guns.  You can also see that despite having respectable equipment, one still must possess the knowledge of how to effectively operate such equipment, otherwise you have to shoot on Auto-mode and the camera does the thinking for you, for better or for worse.  In this case...worse.  Why my camera would think I'd rather have the magwell in focus, but not the HK USP trades, is beyond me.  But I digress...

You can see KWA has got a number of USP models now, along with the famous KWA MP7 Gas Blowback Airsoft Submachine Gun, as well as their G36 Commando Airsoft AEG.

One model in particular that I think many people are excited for, including myself, is the arrival of the KWA MK23 SOCOM.  Fully licensed HK trades thanks to the fine folks at UMAREX are just the icing on the Airsoft cake here. Had to throw this one in here: the KWA 1911 Mk II from their Professional Training Pistol (PTP) line.

Just in case you need some 3-round burst gas pistol action in your life, snapped a shot of the KWA M93RII with KWA's signature NS2 gas system internals.  I love the number three and I love things that are round.  So naturally, when I saw that KWA's M93RII featured a three-round burst selection, I just about pooped.

I'm glad I didn't poop myself, though.  Then I would no longer be able to refer to this monstrous gun convention as "Shot Show 2011," but rather as "[rhymes with spit] Show 2011".  And people wouldn't want to be friends with me after that.  Plus, I didn't have a change of clothes handy at the time.  It would have been all bad and I'm glad I kept my composure.

Ah yes.  Here we go.  The 945 Compact, Adaptive Training Pistol (ATP), TKV33 and KZ75 Airsoft Gas Blowback Pistols from KWA

While I do give due credit to the other three Airsoft pistols in the photo, I'm going to ignore their existence for the time being.  Number one, right off the bat, I dug the look of the KWA's new Adaptive Training Pistol (ATP).  And then, once I got the scoop on it from a gentleman I like to call, Mr. Allen "Allizard" Lau, who probably needs no introduction, I increased my level of "dig" that which therein I felt towards it.  Shares some similarity with the Glock G17, including the use of the same Glock gas magazines.  It even fits into molded Glock holsters, so there are a ton of great options already out on the market compatible with the ATP.  I am particularly interested in picking up a 5.11 Thumbdrive holster + thigh rig, maybe even a right and left hand rig for dualies.  Last but perhaps most impressive, was the high degree of ergonomical comfort when holding the ATP.  The molded grip feels great in the hands of the operator (that's what she said!!!). In an ocean of new KWA products, I'm perhaps most excited for this arrival, save for one other item*, due out later this year.

Alright.  The foreigners: The TKV33, KZ75, and M226, which of course, is a Sig Sauer replica.  All GBB,  All, of course, KWA

Remember that "one other item*" I was most excited for that I mentioned in the ATP section?  No?  Well I don't remember certain aspects of my late-night/early-morning adventures running around the Las Vegas Boulevard Strip, so I won't hold it against you this time.

The real SPHINX Tactical 9mm Handgun (with compensator). Hand model: Christophe Guignard

So anyway, that other item that I might be most excited for of all the new KWA stuff is the SPHINX...
Funny story stemming from my ability to "hyperfocus" due to a severe case of Attention Deficit Disorder - Type II:  The first time around to the KWA booth, I was so focused on the KRISS Vector and K10, that I managed to completely ignore the ultra-sexy handgun sitting inside the SAME DISPLAY CASE the Swiss submachinegun replicas were sitting in. I happened to be conversing with Christophe Guignard, Director of Marketing for KRISS, about the very real steel SPHINX Tactical 9mm handgun, when he informed me that he and KWA were working on producing an Airsoft gas blowback version of the very same firearm I was salivating on (figuratively speaking).  Once he began to tell me that KWA had one in their case with the Vector & K10, that was it.  Naturally, I cut him off mid-sentence at that point and raced back to the booth for a peak...

OK, that last part about cutting off the Director of Marketing for KRISS simply to see an Airsoft version of the real steel version we were just discussing MAY have been a bit embellished. But looking at the photo above of the KWA SPHINX Compact 9mm, could you blame me if I DID pull off such a ballsy maneuver?  I actually waited until we had mutually agreed to end our discussion before heading back to the KWA booth. But you can see how much better it makes the story if I say that I just rudely interrupted Christophe without so much as an ounce of concern for his feelings and ran off to see a toy gun prototype at another booth.

Alright, that'll do for now.

If you haven't yet seen the movie, "The Other Guys," starring Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg, I suggest you do so quicker than you can say, "DESK POP!!!"

It's a phenomenal film wherein Will Ferrell plays a former college pimp (pimp name=Gator) who now works as an accountant (*deep Ice Cube rapper voice* Yay Yaya!) for the NYPD.  It's got a whole slough of other entertaining characters you'd recognize.

The title of today's blog entry is not just hilarious and inappropriate, but it happens to be a somewhat modified quote from, "The Other Guys" that I've managed to connect to Echo1 USA's new triple acronym Airsoft gun: the GAT SMG AEG seen above.

After you check out this next bit of somewhat-old news and then take into consideration the other guns I've already discussed here on the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog that were on display at the JAG Precision/Echo1/MadBull/SOCOM Gear Shot Show 2011 booth, it's reasonable to understand why they are definitely in the running for the best Airsoft Shot Show booth this year.  When I say, "best," I'm speaking in terms of not only the NUMBER of new guns to be released in the short-term** future, but also the impressive variety of new models they'll be producing.  Some of these models were previously not in existence on the Airsoft market.

**Short-term in the tax & accounting world generally refers to a period of time less than one year, and that is what I "mean it to mean" (yes, I just said that) in this context as well.

Check this shazzle bedazzle out:

That's a chrome'd-out Echo1 prototype (final version will likely be black, not chromo) of a new Airsoft support weapon that they've yet to assign a model name. Now, just between you and me (and the world), that looks an awful lot like an Airsoft replica of the Knights Armament Co. (KAC) LMG (which, for all my noobz out there, stands for "light machine gun"). Aside from KAC being perhaps one of my favorite manufacturers of real guns, I'm seeing some things in this picture that I like. Number one: it's going to be well-made, inside and out, no doubt and, therefore, makes me want to shout.  Secondly, that pistol grip looks super similar to the standard M4 grip that we all know and love. Also, that stock looks like it slides over a buffer tube. Both of these things tell me that there are some customizable grip and stock options for this gun to suit your ergonomical needs or vanity preferences. I'm pretty particular about the grips I use on my guns because of the shear size of my hulking gorilla hands.  I rarely leave the original grip on my guns, assuming the original grip is replaceable.

Next up is the Kel-Tec & Lonewolf prototypes.

While nobody specified who the manufacturer will be for the Lonewolf model, I'll give you two guesses as to who it will likely be.  You might notice that the Lonewolf model looks awfully similar to a Glock (slide, finger molds on the grip, plus the gas magazine), and has hints of a 1911 (note the dovetail grip).  Well, that's cuz it's a sort of hybrid between the two, designed to bring the best of both worlds into one complete and awesome gun.  These items are still in the early phases of development, so don't expect them out in March or anything.  I would think maybe an end-of-2011 release date might be more realistic.  I tried confirming all this last night with Brian (aka Rick) Holt at Echo1 via text messages, but he didn't respond even though it was only one o'clock in the morning!!! What a bum (Brian, I'm kidding. Sorry for texting you at such a preposterous hour).

Normally I save the best for last, but I love so much of what the JAG booth had on display, that it's kind of ALL the best.

How about the

While they only had three on display, MadBull will actually have the five (5) options available, varying by length, as pictured below.

As you can see, options for the Surefire Suppressors from MadBull include:
5" Mini Suppressor
6" Suppressor
6.72" Suppressor
7.5" Suppressor and
9" Suppressor

Just saying the phrase, "I REALLLY want one of each of these new MadBull suppressors!!!" is such an understatement that I'm not going to bother even saying it.  Just assume that they're all I can think about night or day, and that I'm starting to lose my appetite over the thought of living without them in my life.

If you're wondering what the "+ COMP" part of the descriptions to the right refers to, I'll tell you: Each suppressor comes with a special CNC'd aluminum flash hider required to attach these sexy cans to your favorite AEG.  OR, if you have an UGLY and/or not-so-favorite AEG, these MadBull Surefire Suppressors may be an even better suited for that, as they will allow you to enhance your ugly AEG's appearance.

The process of using the MadBull Surefire Suppressors to make your unattractive Airsoft Gun look more appealing is essentially what's referred to as "dressing up or polishing a turd."  Either or.  FYI.

Don't thank me, thank MadBull.

Maybe you don't want a "turd" for an AEG.  Maybe you want one that looks good AND is also built for winners.

Well...Enter the Robinson Arms XCR Airsoft AEG by Echo1 USA.

By now, I'll admit, you're probably already at least somewhat aware that Echo1 is producing this gun, but I don't care.  I am going to talk about it anyway.

There are a couple new features to this gun that set it apart from the typical AEG.

Number one: it's officially licensed and, therefore, a legal copy.

Echo1 likes to play by the rules.  You should too and call your hits.

Number two: the XCR uses a new split gearbox design, similar in concept to the ICS gearboxes you might be familiar with, allowing all you Airsoft techs and tinkerers out there more flexibility when you're upgrading or tuning this gun to your heart's content.  Brian demonstrated just how easy it is to access the gearbox and separate the two pieces while we were taking a break from busting tangos two weekends ago at one of our local fields.  I was definitely impressed by the design and how easy it was to get access not only to the gearbox, but inside it as well (which reminds me of my first time)

This particular Echo1 XCR AEG model features the retractable Magpul PTS Compact-Type Restricted (CTR) stock.

Not pictured, but included is a PEQ box of some sort to allow one to connect the ever-important AEG battery pack so that you can actually shoot and play with your gun, rather than just stare at in your parent's basement whilst you start flame wars on your favorite Airsoft forums via the interwebz.

Echo1 will also offer a folding stock version with a little bit shorter front end to it. I was able to snap a few shots of Brian eliminating some OPFOR at last week's Desert Fox MOUT game with his ultra sleek prototype combo: the Robinson Arms XCR AEG prototype by Echo1 with the Surefire Suppressor prototype by MadBull attached.

I believe the MadBull suppressors are either now available for sale or will be soon.

Below is a gallery of my remaining shots from the EPIC JAG Precision booth at Shot Show 2011, including a few shots of the Robinson Arms XCR AEG by Echo1 that I took at the Desert Fox game just for good measure. Click on any thumbnail for a larger view in a new browser tab or window. Due to atrocious indoor lighting conditions and my lack of ability to compensate for that on a $2000 camera/lens setup (all Canon, by the way.  FTW) led to some poor/FAIL shots at the JAG booth. It was also my first booth of the entire Shot Show, so I hadn't quite got into my groove yet either. Pathetic excuses aside, the photos do these guns absolutely no justice. You'll need to see them in person to be a believer like me. Try to enjoy them anyway though. There are children starving in third-world countries.

PANTAC USA Booth
- Airsoft News from SHOT SHOW 2011 -
Is that a terrible picture of Pantac's banner? Yup. Sorry.

Airsoft Guns, Pantac USA, Shot Show 2011 News Updates, Shot Show 2011 Pantac USA Booth,Pantac Battle Belts,Airsoft Tactical Gear, Plate Carriers, Mag Pouches,Airsoft Tactical MOLLE Gear, Mad Max Mullen, OP Lion Claws,MOLLE,Pyramyd Air, Pyramyd Airsoft Blog, Airsoft Obsessed, Airsoft BlogTruth be so very told, Shot Show had ended for the day and we were being ushered out by very large security personnel. While they were distracted by other, more suspicious-looking guests, I snuck a few snapshots of the Pantac USA booth that was unfortunately left unmanned by whoever Pantac sent to represent them. So I didn't get to talk to any of their representatives.

Here's what I saw:

You can see that they've got a variety of different tactical pouches for various purposes.  Most of these pouches to the right are going to be for storing extra Airsoft rifle and pistol mags, although I think I spot a double pouch for grenades or something in the mix as well.  However, one thing I've learned is that just because some SAYS it's for one purpose, doesn't mean it won't work really well for another purpose, too.  You just have to think outside the box in the event you're looking for a specialty pouch that nobody makes yet.

Pantac USA usually offers whatever gear they make in various styles and just about all the colors you would either want or need to be "tactical hot" out on the field.  I personally appreciate having a lot of options to choose from when I'm browsing for new stuff, so the fact that Pantac makes some pretty high-quality gear AND there's good selection of options to choose from is definitely a plus.

Pantac MOLLE Battle Belts. Very handsome battle belts at that!  I dig MOLLE battle belts because they enable me to carry more stuff than I may or may not need. It's all subjective, really. They are also great in the event you want to run more of a high-speed load out without a vest or chest rig. You can throw some MOLLE mag pouches on there, maybe a holster & a dump pouch for your spent mags and be on your way to winning. Bottom line is that they're very handy.

These were some damn fine tactical bags & packs, Pantac.  Well played.  These types of tactical MOLLE bags come in handy for a number of different situations.  For example, I use my 5.11 Tactical Series RUSH 72 pack for everything from road trips to a bag for snacks & other important elements of Airsoft game day to carrying my laptop, camera case & other crucial Shot Show gear.   I've also seen them used by Airsoft snipers who like to keep their ghillie suits in them when not in use.   Guys will take their "bag o' ghillie" out into the field with them and put their suit on once the game has started so that the OPFOR can't scope out their threads in the parking lot and have a better idea of what to look for when they're on a sniper hunt.  That's really only a situation for people like me who take these toy guns WAAAAYYY too seriously (which I see NO problem with and actually fully support because Airsoft is the bee's knees).

Everyone needs one of these rigs.  Not necessarily from Pantac, although they do make top-notch gear, but if you're on a super tight budget, just about any type of tactical vest that allows one to attach pouches and/or otherwise store necessities will suffice.  I plan on becoming an owner of a Pantac plate carrier at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.   They hold up very well, but most importantly in Airsoft, they look outstandingly bad a$$ compared to some of the other vests I've seen out on the market.

Here's a little bit more on that same subject (tactical MOLLE vests).

So there's a little taste of the Pantac Shot Show booth for ya.

If you can believe, I've actually got a number of updates to share with you still, here on the Award-Winning Pyramyd Airsoft Blog (thank you Popular Airsoft voters!!!).  And to think I that I didn't even get to see anywhere CLOSE to the amount of booths I had wanted to initially.  Next year's coverage is going to be crazy massive, I'll tell you that much, my anonymous 6mm friends.

Has anyone ever told you that I LOVE Airsoft?  Cuz I do.

So we'll get to the possible sabotage story after I show you a few of the Airsoft AEGs on display at the Shot Show 2011 ICS Booth. Let's talk about the guns first. While I can't say that I was the biggest fan of ICS prior to visiting their booth, I will humbly admit that they seem to put out some good looking guns and their staff was very pleasant, despite the fact that they didn't even know they were talking to the

I dig it and have for quite some time. The real steel version was manufactured by Israeli Military Industries, makers of the infamous Desert Eagle .50AE, among several other notable firearms that I find attractive and impractical. Featured on the right, you've also got the Galil SAR looking mighty fine as well. I reviewed the licensed Cybergun Galil SAR earlier last year and was quite pleased with not only it's build quality but also it's performance. But I guess ICS probably doesn't want me talking about that during their time to shine. Good thing they're not in charge here then, huh?

Anywho, here's a Galil ARM variant with an integrated rail system, perfect for mounting an optic or PEQ box. You may also notice an odd-looking ICS AK74 underneath their Galil. At a closer glance, you may be able to deduce that ICS has cut out pieces of the AEG's outer body, in order to show people like you and me what goes on inside their Airsoft guns. Almost like an AEG Cross-Section, if you will.

Several unlikely candidates to catch my attention were the ICS L86 A2 Airsoft Support Weapon and his two little homies, the L85 A2 rifle and the L85 A2 Carbine, all Airsoft AEGs, of course. To the Left, you'll see the L86 in all its bullpup glory, waiting to go home with someone special (aren't we all). Just underneath that and barely in the shot, you can see the ICS L85 A2 Carbine, designed for close-range engagements in tight spaces. I love engaging tight spaces.

I bet the ICS L85 Carbine AEG does as well.

Here's the "regular" L85 A2 Airsoft AEG from ICS. It took me a minute or two, but I eventually noticed the hand guard was a smidge longer than the Carbine version.

The Sig 552 model has the front hand guard rail system, which I believe is a new feature, considering they don't have it listed on their website anywhere that I checked.

Not that it really needs much of an introduction, but I know there are some of you out there that have been looking forward to the ICS M3 Grease Gun coming out. Well, here's a visual treat for you...

Alright, so the sabotage thing. I don't know if this guy was just horrendously oblivious to his surroundings or purposely trying to ruin as many of my photographs that he could while I was trying to document the wall of new stuff at the ICS Shot Show booth. Here, ICS Marketing Specialist, David Tsao, is showing me the ICS FN FNC AEG, then all of a sudden, Captain Oblivious, who was standing to my left, pulls his camera out of nowhere and sticks it in my shot while I'm clearly snapping photos of my own.

Shot Show Sabotage or Just Desperate for Attention?  Too close to call.  Let's look at some additional footage.

I didn't sweat it the first time cuz I'm cool like that, but then this...

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, homes? David and I were clearly having a convo and this brosef keeps interjecting with weird questions in an undeterminable (and thereby untrustable) foreign accent. David isn't sure how to respond and tries to answer the questions as best he can. I can barely understand this guy. All I know is that my camera lens is longer and wider than his, so I start to feel sorry for his inadequacies.

He keeps chatting David's poor ears off and I decide to try and snap a few more shots of other guns whilst I wait for this guy get distracted by a shiny object or something and leave. But he doesn't. And while he's chatting it up, he's constantly looking back at me with a questionable grin on his face.

The kind of grin that makes you wonder whether he's been eating poop lately.

I'm trying not to acknowledge him, and I think he detects this, at which point, right as I've found a good-looking Galil/AK style AEG to document, BOOM.

Shot Show Sabotage.

This dude straight-up SHOULDER CHECKS my shot!  And he knew too.  I could tell, just by looking at the plaid on his shirt coupled with a silly sweater vest, that he did it ON PURPOSE. I actually had several other shots with some portion of his existence ruining the image, but I deleted them prior to the realization that I should save them and write to the world about his petty behavior.

SHAME ON YOU, SIR.

I don't know what I did to this guy, but he sure had it in for me. Or maybe he just had his head up in dark places and was, therefore,  simply just "situationally unaware."  I'll let you decide.

I'm just telling you how it went down in the Vegas Town.

Plenty more Shot Show 2011 content headed your way this week.  More from KWA, Cybergun, KRISS & SPHINX, plus a few shots of the Pantac and Umarex Booths.  Oh yeah, I hung out with Brian aka "Rick Holt" aka Mr. Echo1 on Sunday at the Desert Fox MOUT Facility.  It was here where we not only shot some BBs in the same direction as some bad guys, but we had a little photo sesh with the new Echo1 M240 Bravo Airsoft HEAVY machine gun, as well as the new Robinson Arms XCR AEG by Echo1 all decked out with goodies, including the SEXY, new and very licensed Surefire mock suppressor from MadBull.

You stay classy, Airsoft.
