BATFE Approves Umarex HK UMP GBB SMG by VFC

Elite Force announced this week on their Facebook page that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATFE) has approved the VFC H&K UMP Gas Blowback SMG for importation into the United States.  I find this to be phenomenal news, as I have been bugging Cliff Eisenbarger & Andy Green at Elite Force to get on the ball with getting some HK-licensed VFC gas blowback airsoft guns to us here in the states.  While the H&K UMP wouldn't be my first choice among the HK line-up, it's certainly a big step in the right direction.  Obviously, the 416 series (HK416CQB, HK416C, M27 IAR, etc) along with the HK417 would be my preference.  So we shall see if they are able to get the gas blowback versions into the states at some point in the future.  For now, let us rejoice in the news of the HK UMP, or Heckler & Koch Universal Machine Pistol.

As it stands now, my understanding is that there are currently two options to choose from for the VFC HK UMP GBB SMG.  The Standard (STD) version and the Deluxe (DX) version.  From what I've seen, the Deluxe version simply comes with a Picatinny rail mounted to the top of the receiver, allowing the operator to mount his/her favorite optic, and also includes an HK-licensed UMP mock suppressor.  I wouldn't be surprised if the ATF gives Umarex some trouble about getting that mock suppressor into the country, unless it's already made to be compliant with their rules.  If that is the case, then don't expect to see the DX version available here.

No word on availability since Elite Force just got the approval from the BATFE yesterday.  I asked Andy Green for any insight on an ETA and/or retail price point via text message earlier this evening.  His reply was riddled with anger and irritation, saying that he was too busy painting his nails and watching weird, late-night infomercials to talk to me and that I should mind my own business.  He is very rude and sometimes I cry a little when no one is looking because of the things he says to me.

That's all for now.  As soon as I get word on new developments in the case, I'll make sure to update you here on the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog.

The Echo1 USA MTC 2 Airsoft AEG

The Echo1 USA MTC 2 Airsoft AEG (and the more compact, Echo1 USA MTC 1 Airsoft AEG) showed up on the scene around October/November-ish of 2011 as an answer to a pesky little lawsuit involving HK and pretty much most of the Airsoft industry at the time.  Since the HK G36 was now off-limits for production by anyone else other than Umarex, who holds the license for HK products worldwide, Echo1 opted to take that design, mix it up enough to get passed the trademark/trade dress rules and voila!
The Echo1 USA MTC (Modular Tactical Carbine) Airsoft AEG was born.

As per usual hitherto wherein, the Echo1 MTC 2 comes in a nicely packaged box full of foam and excitement.  There are tools to convert the magwell from accepting M4 magazines to G36 magazines (and vice versa), two high-capacity magazines, 9.6V 1,500mAh nunchuck battery, and a battery charger.  Oh yea, the gun comes in the box, too.  Weird.

Check out the full sit rep on this unique piece after the jump,
where I whisper sweet nothings in your ear about it.

Today's product spotlight is pointed directly at the Echo1 Robinson Armament XCR-L Polymer AEG and I plan to illuminate the heck out of it.  For starters, how's about we play a little game I like to call, "What's in the box?"  Luckily, this box does NOT contain Gwyneth Paltrow's beautiful, yet severed head.  It contains the airsoft gun itself, along with a big ol' 9.6V 1500mAH NiMH nunchuck battery, battery charger, warranty stuff, stubby vert grip, mag winder tool, some other tool, and two (2) high capacity m4 magazines.

At long last, the KWA KRISS Vector Airsoft GBB submachine gun has found its way into my possession.  It's been quite a journey to get to this point.  I recall two years ago, being at Shot Show and getting word that there would be a prototype coming soon.

Yes, it did take quite awhile for this sweet SWISS thing to make it into production, but I really think that KWA went all in on this one.  It's a pretty impressive piece to say the very least and I think it was worth the wait.

"If you go out in the woods today, be sure to bring your HK."

At last. The KWA HK USP Match Pistol has come under my possession. Many of you may recognize this as one of the two identical pistols that Lara Croft uses in the hit video game series, Tomb Raider, and it also appears in the movie adaptation starring Angelina Jolie. Although, I will point out that the guns Lara used were two-toned, black with a silver slide at times, and at others she used the all black version. But that is more of a "moo point." It's like a cow's opinion; it doesn't matter.
KWA HK USP Match Pistol, Tomb Raider Gun, Pyramyd Airsoft Blog, Tom Harris, Tominator,

I would think most of the veteran players that are reading this right now would probably wonder why I'm taking a look at a gun that has been out for so long and the answer is simply this: Because I want to. Is it so wrong to derive a little pleasure from this stuff every now and then? I'll freely admit to selfish motives here, as long as you freely admit that this gun is awesome.
